As therapeutic as it is to inhale the woody smell of the furniture, stroll through the aisles for home inspiration, and buy an ice-cream cone, not everyone has the time or ability to do so.

As SoyaCincau recently discovered, the Swedish furniture company has made it easier for shoppers to get their products without needing to head to the actual store.

This is especially great if you do not have access to any of the branches near you.

So, here is all you need to know on how you can buy stuff from their website

Keep in mind that online purchases can only be done on the desktop site and not on the mobile app.

The IKEA site functions like any usual e-commerce shopping site. Just scroll through their products, select the ones you want, and click Buy Online.

Once you've made your selection, click on your cart, double-check the items, and hit the checkout button. The total amount will be shown, excluding the delivery charges.

You can choose between two delivery options: parcel delivery (for smaller items) and truck delivery (for larger items)

Parcel delivery costs RM40 while truck delivery costs RM98 (yellow), RM140 (blue), and RM235 (pink) depending on your zone.

To test it out, I maxed out my cart by adding multiple cupboards, desks, and beds and the truck delivery charge remained at RM98 for my zone. Not too shabby, especially for those buying a ton of stuff.

West Malaysia zones are indicated in the picture below:

If you live in East Malaysia (Kuching, Miri and Kota Kinabalu), you're not left out, though the shipping charges are slightly pricier.

Parcel charges are RM100 and truck delivery charges is RM675. You can save a bit by selecting the Click & Collect option for RM575, which allows you to collect it from specific locations.

Take note that if you are using the truck delivery, you will be required to select a delivery time and it is subject to availability

Delivery to condos and gated residences are not available on weekends and on weekdays after 5pm.

You can also make a bulk order by emailing them. If you need someone to help you assemble your product, it's an additional charge - 10% of the price of your item. You can select this at the "Shipping" tab during checkout.

Payment-wise, there are currently debit or credit card options

Once you've got everything you need and made your payment, a confirmation email will be sent to your inbox.

If you want to return a product, you can do so as long as the item is not bruised, marked, damaged, or abused. The unassembled item can be returned in its original packaging, together with its receipt within 100 days, for an exchange or full refund.

You can read more about their return policy here.

Let's be honest, shopping online may never replace the whole IKEA store experience, but it is a welcomed bonus in this day and age

Now all they need is an option to deliver their curry puffs to our doorstep.
