You can now check exactly where your Rapid KL bus is and what time it will arrive at your location on Google Maps

Rapid Bus has collaborated with the web mapping service to release this new feature to help users plan their trips more efficiently.

Commuters will now be able to check the real-time location of Rapid KL buses along almost 170 routes in Klang Valley on the app.

This feature is also available for other bus lines operated by Prasarana, including LRT feeder buses, Go KL, and select Smart Selangor bus routes.

Commuters should pay attention to the colour of the timing under the bus route number or name

If it is green, the bus is exactly on time and you can watch the bus move on the route map in real-time by tapping on the bus number shown in the app.

But if it is black, that means real-time tracking is not available for that bus service, and the bus will arrive according to its generic schedule.

If the colour of the timing is red, that means the bus is delayed.

Before this, users would only know about the location of their buses - and if they were going to be late - by contacting the Rapid KL helpline

According to Malay Mail, the company received over 4,800 queries from customers, from the months of January to April, wanting to know the location of the buses they were waiting for.

This made up more than 60% of the call centre's enquiries.

"With the Google Maps data, customers no longer have to refer to the call centre, but can find out for themselves the real-time location of our Rapid buses before planning their trip," said Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
