Women Will Have The Option To Choose Female Riders For Motorcycle E-Hailing Service

Women passengers will be able to choose riders of the same gender for the proposed motorcycle e-hailing service
In a report by New Straits Times, Transport Minister Anthony Loke explained that this was among the conditions imposed on companies offering the service.
“We understand the sentiments of the people, especially on women’s safety," he said at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, 4 December.
Loke revealed that the government has agreed to have a trial run in Klang Valley to see how this system can be implemented, while taking into account safety issues
“Among the conditions by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) is to provide option for women pillion riders to choose only women riders," he was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.
While Indonesian motorcycle e-hailing service Gojek will be operating in Malaysia, the Transport Ministry is still encouraging local companies to expand their services
Local e-hailing firms should also include motorcycle e-hailing services.
According to New Straits Times, relevant laws like the Land Public Transport Act and Road Transport Act would be revised to include provisions on the service.
