[VIDEO] Insanely Brilliant Dude Builds Fully Automatic Wolverine Claws In His Garage

You’re excited for the new X-Men movie, we’re excited for the new X-Men movie — but the guy below is really excited. Colin Furze, who is possibly slightly mad but definitely brilliant, went ahead and made himself a set of actual, working, Wolverine claws. We know, the jealousy is strong with us, too.

YouTuber Colin Furze makes cool metalwork projects on his channel, and now, he's taken on the coolest challenge ever - making a pair of fully-functional retractable wolverine claws

While others have taken a stab at this sort of project before, all of those only do one half of the equation: the claw extension. Once the claws came out, they had to be manually set back in place.

Armed with a pinch of ingenuity and a heaping fistful of insanity, garage inventor Colin Furze has recreated Wolverine’s signature claws. They extend! They retract! They… look incredibly dangerous!

With the help of a clever compressed air system, Colin’s claws are able to extend and retract on command:

The blades both deploy and retract automatically at the touch of a button held in the hand, and just like in the comic and movies the blades even spread slightly rather than shooting out straight. They're certainly more convincing than the CGI claws in some of the movies featuring the ol' Canucklehead.

Sure, he needs to wear a big ol’ backpack to make it all work — but besides swappin’ out your skeleton for one with a bit more adamantium, this is probably about as close as you can get to the real deal.

If you'd like to get a bit more insight into how he actually put them together, check out the making of video below:

PS: Colin has also modified one of those scooters that travels at 4mph and made it so that it could travel at speeds up to 70mph. WATCH:

Colin is promising more X-Men themed projects in the coming days, so we’ll keep an eye out for more insanity
