Swing Copters captures all the "just one more try" of Flappy Bird, and seems even more brutally difficult.

For those who were obsessed with Flappy Bird, arguably the most addictive game of modern times, its creator Dong Nguyen is coming with something more maddening. He has taken Flappy Bird, made the bird fly vertically while avoiding swinging things, and turned it into Swing Copters. WATCH:

It's expected to launch on the 21 August and will be an ad-supported free download — or USD.99 for the ad-free version

The goal of the game, which looks like Flappy Bird and features a little guy with a helicopter attached to his helmet, is to maneuver the character in between swinging hammers without getting hit

While the graphics are of course underwhelming, the gameplay looks as maddening as Nguyen’s original hit. But now, instead of just avoiding stationary objects, players have to navigate around swinging objects as well.

In the game, you play as a little dude who has a propeller on his head. Swing Copters coaxes you to tap the screen, at which point you're airborne, wildly flying to one side. Tapping changes your flight direction, and the goal is similar: Fly through as many gates and get as high as you can. Sort of similar to Flappy Bird, but going up instead of to the side.

And if the above video is any proof, Swing Copters is going to be a lot more fun to play than Flappy Bird but also much harder

Speaking of Flappy Bird, ironically it has been compared to The Helicopter Game created by David McCandless in 2000. And after giving it a try, the curator of this story can say it's even harder.

Earlier this year, its creator even tweeted about the similarities, calling Flappy Bird "another rip of my helicopter game"

It'll be interesting to see how McCandless responds to a Flappy Bird spin-off that looks even more similar to his original game
