Photos Of SDCC, A New Collaborative Workspace For Hopeful Startups In Selangor
The incubator and co-working space is the current initiative by the Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC).

The startup scene in Malaysia has never been more exciting. Local inventors and hopeful entrepreneurs are giving it all they've got to make successful businesses out of great ideas.
Seeing this rapid growth as both a need and opportunity, the Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) created a space to help nurture startups, especially small and medium enterprise (SMEs)
The Selangor government has set up SITEC to develop Selangor as the regional trading hub for e-commerce, and to airlift the startup ecosystem. It's initial aim is to help 100 Selangor SMEs to go online by providing e-commerce education and training.
sitec.com.myThe result is SDCC (Selangor Digital Creative Centre), an 11,000 square feet incubator and co-working space that encourages the power of collaboration through technology and entrepreneurship
SDCC is of MSC status, which means it is recognised by the Government of Malaysia through the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), for ICT and ICT-facilitated businesses that develop or use multimedia technologies to produce and enhance their products and services.
With exposed bricks and unfinished concrete walls, the office has a modern and minimalist look to it
SDCC was designed by Tetwowe Atelier, an architecture studio based in Kuala Lumpur.

The well-designed office is not merely a comfortable working space, as SITEC hopes to educate and enrich startups through various courses and talks
SITEC also hopes to grow the maker movement in Selangor with equipped workshops and tools (yup, a 3D printer too!)
The office houses a workshop equipped with tools and materials needed to built products. Aside from conventional tools, high-end equipment like 3D printer and laser cutter are available too.
Some of the makers affiliated with SDCC include KakiDIY, an online space for DIY enthusiasts and Malaysia Unmanned Drones Activist Society, the first drone society in Malaysia recognised by the Department of Civil Aviation
Some of the many drones in display at the launching of SDCC. Many of these drones are made out of recyclable materials, resulting in lower cost as compared to drones bought from stores.
The drone you see above is from KakiDIY, it is made entirely out of everyday items like plastic bottles, cotton and styrofoam.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister of Selangor Azmin Ali emphasised the importance of furthering the tech industry
"I really love the rugged style of SDCC, it's really different. Embracing innovation, creativity and talent is very important for the growth of the state and country. We should recognise the talent pool we have here, especially in the field of technology," said Azmin Ali during his speech.
Inventors and startup owners, if you're looking for a place to grow as an entrepreneur, SDCC would be the place to be!
