If you've ever opened Instagram on an iPad, you've probably wondered: why does this look… off?

For years, the absence of a proper Instagram app for Apple's tablet has been one of the more baffling oversights in tech.

It's not like Instagram is a niche platform, nor is the iPad some obscure gadget.

Both debuted in 2010, both are massively popular, and both are tailor-made for visual content.

Instagram has stubbornly avoided releasing a native app for the iPad — leaving users to either suffer through the limited web version or stretch the iPhone app into a pixelated mess

Even more frustrating, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri has previously claimed there just aren't enough users asking for an iPad app — despite also admitting they get asked about it "a lot".

It's a circular kind of logic that's left many scratching their heads.

But finally, there's a glimmer of hope.

A report from The Information reveals that Instagram is now developing a native iPad app

Details are thin — there's no launch timeline, no feature list, not even a teaser screenshot.

Still, the timing is curious. The decision reportedly coincides with increased pressure on TikTok in the US, suggesting Meta sees this as a strategic moment to strengthen Instagram’s foothold.

So yes, it's happening. Probably. Eventually. And when it does, iPad users might finally get the Instagram experience they've waited over a decade for.
