Sixteen-year-old Lee Yee Run’s winning Doodle 4 Google art that features iconic Malaysian figures, will be on the Google search page, this Malaysia Day.

The student from SMJK Yoke Kuan in Sekinchan, Selangor won this honour and a trophy after he painted a doodle titled Beauty Of Malaysia, that shows the KL Tower, Bunga Raya, the Twin Towers and other iconic images of the country.

Google Wants To Feature A Malaysian's "Doodle" On Malaysia Day, This 16 September
A Malaysian student will have his or her “doodle” featured on the Google logo in Google Malaysia’s homepage on Sept 16.

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014, the theme was “Malaysia to me is...”. The competition was open to four age categories: 7 to 9, 10 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 to 17.

The Theme Encourages Students To Dream Big And Be Creative
Google Malaysia Country Manager Sajith Sivanandan said the theme includes anything about culture, diversity, people, food, landmarks, and everything that represents Malaysia to these students, with imagination and creativity as the top priority.

To encourage more students to participate, Google will hold nationwide roadshows starting in May, including rural areas. Googlers and expert judges will shortlist the five best doodlers in each category, while Malaysians can decide on the eventual winners on a date to be announced later at google.com.my/doodle4google.

Judges will pick the best five out of these and post them online. Malaysians will then get to vote for their favourite in each category. After one more round of judging by Google staff based in the United States, the overall winner will be chosen.
