The Company Behind 'Pac-Man' And 'Naruto' Video Games Has Opened Up A Studio In Malaysia

Aspiring video game developers, your dream job might just be within your grasp!

Renowned Japanese video game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially established a studio in Malaysia with hopes to open up more opportunities and grow the local games industry.

BANDAI NAMCO Studios Inc., with the help of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), has officially opened up a studio in Kuala Lumpur known as BANDAI NAMCO Studios Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (BNSMY). The studio was formally launched in-house during a private ceremony with the attendance of Makoto Ishii, Managing Director of BNSMY, Hasnul Hadi Samsudin, Director of Creative Content & Technology Division of MDEC, as well as guests from Lemonsky.

Bandai Namco, which incorporated Bandai Co. Ltd. into its operations in early 2005, has also developed and published video games based on well-known manga and anime series such as 'Dragon Ball', 'Naruto', 'Digimon', 'Mobile Suit Gundam', and 'One Piece'.

The company's Malaysian studio will be focused on visual arts production in the region, collaborating with its Singaporean counterpart to develop content for its global market

The studio will also be partnering with local CGI studio LemonSky Animation as well as receive support from MDEC in commencing operations and business at Bandai Namco's new location, which will be home to about a hundred employees.

"Having a major industry player such as Bandai Namco setting up a studio in Malaysia speaks volumes of our talent pool, games industry and national economy," said Hasnul Hadi Samsudin, Director of Creative Content & Technology Division of MDEC.

"Our games industry is stronger than ever and we are excited to see what lies ahead," he added.

"At the same time, we are thrilled to be collaborating with the Japanese game industry to grow this region together. We hope that Bandai Namco Studios Malaysia will play an active role in developing our local games ecosystem towards our national mission in becoming the leading ASEAN games development hub."
