Users can also hash tag (i.e. #yummy, #ducks #penang), insert filters, use localised stickers, tag friends when uploading photos and share information on personal social networking platforms such as Facebook, Weibo and Twitter. Photos can be automatically uploaded onto your Facebook account via OpenSnap; while new users can register an OpenSnap account via Facebook.

4. Watch Over Me - alert your loved ones when you're out alone for a sense of security

Watch Over Me is a safety app with an interesting story, it was born out of a real-life abduction situation that left app co-founder Xin-Ci Chin uninjured, but badly shaken up. After her ordeal, she realized the futility of "panic button" apps that require you to open and press an alert button the middle of an attack. She became involved with Watch Over Me to provide people, in particular women, with a better alternative.

tuaw.com

A streamlined alternative to standard panic-button apps, Watch Over Me operates on a simple premise: You tell the app what you're doing (it has a preset list that includes tasks such as walking to your car and meeting someone new) and how long you believe you'll take to accomplish that task. If you do not report back within that time frame, Watch Over Me will then, depending on the subscription type you have, send an alert to your listed emergency contacts via Facebook, email, or SMS.

If you’ve ever called a friend or family member while walking alone through an alley just so “someone will know where you are”, Watch Over Me is the app for you.

5. SnapSeed - edit and enhance your photos beyond Instagram's limited filters

Snapseed offers filters to increase or reduce saturation, and selectively apply filters. There are also creative photo frames, textures, grunge, and lighting effects.

However, for those who want something a little more... mature, Snapseed allows for a really speedy correction of color/brightness settings for quick sharing. This is akin to Camera+, an app for iOS that can make a picture look a lot better than it really is without seeming overly fake. This goes a long way toward making me want to continue using this app, as sometimes the best editing is when you can't even tell it's there.

androidpolice.com

Snapseed’s been publicly available for a number of months, and I use the app regularly to boost my picture quality. You can think of Snapseed as the lazy man’s way of photo editing. Like Photoshop or other editing apps, Snapseed allows you improve your pictures without a lot of digital editing know-how. However, after the recent “Morning with Google+” event, Snapseed saw one major improvement: HDR.
