4 GST Apps To Help You Calculate, Compare Prices And File Complaints

Apart from your wallet, equip yourself with at least one of these GST related mobile apps created for (confused) consumers like you. Here are four of them in our 41st Tech Tuesday feature.

1. Malaysia GST Calculator

The app offers GST calculations. It comes in two versions, free and paid.

For the free version, the app offers additional GST calculations for imports, mixed supplies, secondhand goods and capital goods adjustment for mixed supplies, on top of basic GST calculation.

The Malaysia GST Calculator app also offers additional features in the paid version of the app, which includes flat rate scheme vs standard GST rate calculation and a GST registered vs non-GST registered calculation, the Star reported.

2. UHY Malaysia GST

According to the description provided in the UHY Malaysia GST app, it gives users a "quick and easy access to key Malaysian GST information. With the latest information and dates derived from the Customs Department website" users will have their own hub of GST knowledge while they are on the move.

It also includes a GST calculator and a downloadable newsletter that gives users regular updates on the latest GST legislation.

3. MyKira GST

This free app allows consumers to check the impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the prices of over 10,000 items. Currently only available for Android users, an iOS version will be made available in the first week of April.

Launched by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) on 27 March 2015, and developed by KPDNKK in collaboration with MIMOS Bhd, the MyKira GST app also allows dissatisfied consumers to file complaints directly to e-aduan, which will be promptly sent to the enforcement team.

4. New Malaysia GST

It's an app for quick and easy mobile reference to the GST. The New Malaysia GST app provides users with important information about GST like "what is GST, how GST works to special scheme among others. Like the previous apps, it also comes with a GST calculator.

BONUS: Customs Department's GST Calculator

While not an app yet, Malaysians can easily calculate the GST value of good for free by using the Customs Department's GST calculator on their desktop. According to the Star, the Customs department might develop a GST mobile app in the future.
