This Gamer Earns More Than RM2.7 Million A Month From Streaming

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, the most popular streamer on Twitch right now, earns more than USD700,000 (RM2.7 million) a month just from Twitch subscriptions alone
In a recent interview with Forbes, Tyler, 26, revealed he gets paid an average of USD3.50 (RM13.70) for every subscriber he has on Twitch. Recently, his Twitch channel surpassed the 200,000 subscribers mark, making him the most subscribed streamer on the platform by a huge margin.
His estimated monthly income of USD700,000 (RM2.7 million) is a low estimate as it does not include donations, Twitch ad revenue, and YouTube ad revenue, as he has over five million subscribers on YouTube.
Twitch is a popular online service for watching and streaming digital video broadcasts. It is primarily known as a platform for gamers to stream their gameplay online.
Ninja, a former Halo and PUBG pro player, recently broke Twitch's record for concurrent viewers when he streamed Fortnite with music superstar Drake
"Ninja and Drake's Fortnite livestream on Twitch attracted 628K concurrent viewers, setting a new milestone in terms of peak concurrent viewers on an individual's channel," said Kate Jhaveri, SVP Marketing, Twitch told Forbes.
"Seeing a top gamer and musician come together on Twitch and unite their large and passionate communities is a cultural moment in terms of building awareness around the appeal of social video and it's only going to grow from here."
Fortnite: Battle Royale is a battle royale competitive shooter game. 100 players will jump out of a moving plane or also known as "battle bus" and land with nothing but a pickaxe. They need to find weapons and equipment on the map while battling for survival as the play space slowly shrinks till the last player is left standing.
The game is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
His meteoric rise the last few months has led him to mainstream coverage as he was interviewed on CNBC about his journey and how he earns money from gaming
However, it actually took Tyler seven years of grinding to reach where he is today as he started streaming since 2011.
He explained how he managed to balance streaming and his other obligations when he was younger, "I was working at Noodles and Company, and I stayed in college while I was doing all these things."
"I continued to do well in school and focused on the future of my life, as well as working on streaming and competing in Halo."
Tyler also offered a piece of advice to young gamers who seek to follow his footsteps
"All the kids out there, you can't just drop everything and focus on playing video games for a living."
"It's also becoming a very competitive career choice right now, and you want to make sure you're securing your future and putting in the extra time to try to make this happen as well," said Tyler in his interview with CNBC.

Tyler said, "I'm definitely going to invest and save it as much as possible. I don't plan on doing anything crazy with it."
"Me and my wife, we started sponsoring an animal a week in our local shelters. Donating the full asking price for surgeries and other things so they get adopted. We are also reaching out to other charitable organisations as well."
