The Malaysian built on a strong start to overcome the Chinese world No 2 21-13 21-18 and claim the Birmingham title for the third time.

In the first game, Chong Wei was effective with his deceptive smashes and calculated rallies against an error-prone Chen Long. He mixed his shots and used every inch of the court to catch Chen Long off-guard on several occasions.

Chong Wei led 5-2 before racing ahead to 15-8 but the Chinese ace upped his pace and gave the Malaysian anxious moments by earning four straight points.

Lee took sweet revenge of his last year's loss in the final by beating China's World No.2 Chen Long 21-13, 21-18.

“I think maybe this is my last All England. I’m very happy and I tried my best because Chen Long is a very tough match for me. I’ve lost to him (Chen) many times so I think for this reason I made sure I tried very hard," Lee told reporters.
