Hanis Nadiah Onn will be facing the disciplinary committee of the national governing body for field hockey next week over her racial slur

According to the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, the 26-year-old national women's field hockey player is being summoned for an internal investigation.

Subahan said that the confederation views the matter seriously.

In a comment on Instagram about Indian artiste A R Rahman's concert recently, the Johor-born implied that the Bukit Jalil stadium would have been really "smelly" due to the thousands of Malaysian Indians there.

According to a screenshot posted to the Malaysian subreddit group, r/Malaysia, Hanis commented under Kosmo's post, saying, "Bau best lah kat dalam tuh (using face with tears of joy emoji)".

Translated in English, her comment reads, "The smell there must have been best lah".

For context, one of the racial stereotypes for Indians in Malaysia is that they are "smelly".

The finding of the internal investigation conducted by MHC will be shared with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh for further action

"We are concerned over the matter and as the minister had said, 'there's no room for racism in sports'. The minister has instructed MHC to investigate the matter. We have always reminded our athletes to be tactful with their conduct as they are public figures," New Straits Times quoted him as saying.
