Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an allocation of RM15 million in the 2025 Budget to boost the development of Malaysia's football teams, including the national Harimau Malaya, Under-18, and Under-13 squads

In collaboration with the Football Association of Malaysia, the funding will be used to hire top coaches, provide world-class training, and offer fair rewards to players, strengthening the country's football programme.

Additionally, the government has committed RM20 million to further enhance the esports ecosystem. This investment will focus on talent development and upgrading esports arenas.

Meanwhile, RM1 million has been set aside for the development of cricket, a move inspired by Anwar's recent visits to cricket-loving nations such as India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, where the sport enjoys immense popularity.
