LCW Recognised For Being The Only Badminton Player To Hold World #1 Ranking For 348 Weeks

He hopes a Malaysian badminton player will break his record.

On 27 June, a ceremony was held by The BrandLaureate Book Of World Records to recognise retired badminton legend Dato' Lee Chong Wei for his achievements

More specifically, the ceremony was to recognise Dato' Lee Chong Wei for being the only badminton legend that held the World No.1 Ranking for 348 weeks. 

This is equivalent to six years and eight months within the year 2000 - 2019. 

The 37-year-old was also recognised for holding the rank for 199 weeks consecutively and for winning a total of 69 individual title championships.

According to Bernama, the event took place at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Following the ceremony, the three-time Olympic silver medallist took to Twitter to express his gratitude

In his tweet posted on 29 June, he was thankful for the recognition, expressing that the accolade meant a lot to him. 

"Thank you, The BrandLaureate Book of World Records for the award. This award means a lot to me," he said in the tweet.

"I sincerely hope that the next badminton player that breaks my record is a Malaysian that is more skilful, determined and handsome," he quipped.
