Another Activist Mysteriously Disappears After His "Strange Experience"

Former Petaling Jaya City Council member Peter Chong who reportedly went "missing" on 5 April, has now returned to Malaysia.

According to a report in The Malay Mail Online, there are more twists in the tale now, as Peter Chong claims to have been kidnapped in Thailand after he went there to seek information about the abducted Christian pastor, Pastor Koh.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh was reported by The Malay Mail Online, saying that Chong had told local police that he had travelled to Thailand to meet someone with information on Pastor Raymond Koh's disappearance.

"According to him, he had gone to Hadyai with the intention of meeting his source who will reveal more info on the disappearance of Pastor. Upon reaching Hadyai he claims to be kidnapped there and brought to Pattaya. Upon release, he contacted his son who bought his return ticket," Amar Singh was quoted as saying by The Malay Mail Online.

Malaysiakini reported on Sunday, 9 April, that Chong's son had already reported his father disappearance but there has been no news or updates on his whereabouts.

"Indeed this is a very sad day for all Malaysians that disappearances are happening here in our country and yet there has been little assurance or news from the police on their efforts to locate the whereabouts of these missing persons," read a statement by Bersih 2.0, as reported by Malaysiakini.

According to Malay Mail Online, Chong was last seen by his family on Wednesday, 5 April, and they had reported him missing to the police on Saturday, 8 April.

On 31 March, Chong described the encounter where a stranger had approached him and mentioned that he recognises Chong and knows that he "likes to go for protests and candlelight vigil."

"He said he sokong (supports) what I do. He said tapi "mahu hati-hati" .. sekarang banyak orang tiba-tiba hilang. Mereka semua tahu mana orang tinggal." (Need to be careful... there are a lot of people going missing nowadays. They know where everyone lives at.)

"I asked, mereka itu siapa(Who are they)? He just said, pandai-pandai la....take care boss..and rode away," read Chong's Facebook post.

According to Chong's Facebook posts, he has been attending and supporting efforts to find Pastor Raymond Koh, who was kidnapped in broad daylight about two months ago in Petaling Jaya.

Reports also suggest that Chong is a close friend of pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah, captain of flight MH370 that went missing on 8 March 2014.

Free Malaysia Today reported that Chong has previously defended Zaharie against all criticisms and speculations that the pilot could be responsible for the flight's mysterious disappearance.

Reports suggest that Pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth have been missing since late November.

Activist Amri Che Mat, on the other hand, was reported missing on 24 November 2016. He was last seen in Kangar, Perlis. His wife, Norhayati Mohd Ariffin, told the authorities that she saw a few suspicious looking vehicles outside their home prior to his disappearance.
