Woman With Pink Wristband Escorted Back Home After She Was Caught Shopping

She will surrender herself to the police after her quarantine period ends.

A 33-year-old woman wearing a COVID-19 quarantine pink wristband was spotted at a supermarket in Batu Berendam, Melaka on Sunday, 8 November

According to Harian Metro, the woman was buying items with a male relative for Deepavali.

She was noticed by members of the public who then reported her to the security guards of the supermarket.

A security guard of the supermarket asked the woman to remove her jacket and spotted the pink tag on her right wrist

Central Melaka district police chief ACP Afzanizar Ahmad told Bernama that the woman was asked to leave the premises and wait in front of the security guard's office before the police arrived.

The woman and her relative were instructed to go home and escorted by the police after questioning

ACP Afzanizar said the Ministry of Health confirmed that the woman is a Person Under Surveillance (PUS) and her quarantine ends this Thursday, 12 November.

"No arrests were made as she will surrender herself at the police station after her quarantine period ends and tested negative for COVID-19," he added.

"An investigation is ongoing under Section 270 of the Penal Code and Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988."
