Family Looking For Woman Who Saved Man's Life With CPR At Kuching Airport
"Without her intervention, the outcome would be totally unimaginable," said the patient's doctor.
A 55-year-old man narrowly escaped death after collapsing at Kuching International Airport, thanks to the quick and heroic actions of a young woman who performed CPR on him for 30 minutes
Now, the man's family is trying to find the woman to thank her personally for saving his life.
ο»ΏThe incident was shared on Facebook by cardiologist Dr Tang Sie Heng, who posted the account on behalf of the man's family.
The man, identified as Mr Law, had just landed in Kuching from Sibu on Wednesday morning, 30 April. He collapsed at around 11.30am at the domestic arrival hall, moments after exiting his flight.
According to Dr Tang, Law had been experiencing chest and stomach pain for three days following a recent trip to China
Despite undergoing a medical scope in Sibu the day before, his condition worsened early that morning.
Determined to seek further treatment, he boarded a flight to Kuching alone.
"When he landed at Kuching airport and exited the domestic arrival hall, he collapsed suddenly. A young lady behind him immediately started CPR on him, continuously for 30 minutes," Dr Tang said.
He added that an automated external defibrillator (AED) was used during the resuscitation, delivering two shocks that restored Law's heart rhythm from a life-threatening ventricular fibrillation to a more stable state.
Law was later rushed by ambulance to the emergency department at Sarawak General Hospital, where he underwent a CT scan.
"Doctors suspected he had a near-fatal cardiac event," he said.
At the family's request, Law was transferred to Timberland Medical Centre, where a coronary angiogram revealed he had two fully blocked arteries
Dr Tang performed emergency coronary angioplasty on the patient, and was pleased to report that his condition had stabilised.
"The patient, his family, and friends have expressed heartfelt gratitude to this young lady for her timely effort; without her intervention, the outcome would be totally unimaginable.
"If you have the contact of this lady, please WhatsApp the details to Madam Ngu at +6013-8046882. They want to thank her for what she did," Dr Tang said.
