Robber In Kelantan Ran Away After Jewellery Store Owner Started Reciting Azan

Startled by the recital of azan, a thief stopped dead in his tracks when attempting to steal from a jewellery store in Kota Bharu, Kelantan yesterday, 8 January
According to a report by Berita Harian (BH), the store owner, her 18-year-old daughter, and an ustaz were in a room in the shop for Quran lessons when they heard the thief breaking in.
"Suddenly, a man, who looked to be in his 30s, rushed into the store and held a machete to the ustaz's neck. He then started threatening my mother to surrender her handphone.
"The suspect then grabbed my mother's handbag and some jewellery from the table. He picked up gold chains, pendants, and bracelets," explained Yuni, the store owner's daughter, as reported by BH yesterday.
Dissatisfied with his haul, the thief tried to break open the display cases that held more jewellery in the store. That was when Yuni's mother started reciting azan loudly.
It completely shocked the thief, who backed away and fled on his bike with the cash and jewellery he stole earlier which amounted to around RM40,000.
Azan is the Islamic call to prayer.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Mat Sidik confirmed the case
The authorities managed to spot the suspect from the neighbouring store's CCTV recordings and have launched a manhunt to track him down.
Assistant Commissioner Ismail also urged members of the public to contact the police immediately if have any details regarding the robbery.
