Woman Calls Out Neighbour For Abusing Cat & Stuffing It Down The Drain

The perpetrator, an elderly man, has been arrested by the authorities.

A woman in Segamat, Johor, was recently heartbroken after allegedly finding her cat abused and stuffed into a drain by her elderly neighbour

Taking to Facebook to share her horror, Kak Yong recounted how she was about to head to work when she noticed her cat was missing from its cage.

"My cat is an indoor cat and has never gone outside, let alone pooped or peed at someone else's house, never!" she wrote.

She then went around her neighbourhood searching for any sign of her cat.

Her heart sank when she noticed her neighbour acting suspiciously, pushing something into a nearby drain

When she looked closer, that's when she found her cat, bloody and abused.

"I kept praying that I'd find my furbaby β€” suddenly, I saw the old man next door poking something down into the drain, trying to push it deeper," she wrote.

"I had to know what it was, though I was hoping it wasn't my cat. I attached a video where you can hear me breathing anxiously as I approached the drain… and what I found was my furbaby.

"I pulled the cat out β€” its face was covered in blood. My heart is completely shattered, Ya Allah," the pet owner recounted on Facebook.

Kak Yong added that she planned to file a police report after sharing her story on social media.

Segamat police confirmed that they have apprehended the suspect

According to Buletin TV3, Segamat police chief Supt Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said they received a report from a woman who found her missing Turkish cat injured at Taman Yayasan, Segamat on Tuesday, 13 May.

Ahmad Zamry said they arrested the 70-year-old man the same day, upon initial questioning, admitted to abusing the cat.

He added that CCTV footage in the area also captured the man's actions.

"After reviewing the CCTV recordings in the neighbourhood, it was found that the suspect had hit and thrown the cat into an abandoned house compound," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code, Section 29(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
