Wee Ka Siong Wants MAB E-Boarding SOP Revised After It Affected An Elderly Man

Former transport minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong recently shared an incident he encountered at Senai Airport in Johor, where an elderly man was not allowed to board a flight
In a post on his Facebook page, Wee said he was approached by a female passenger who was in a state of panic.
According to Wee, the woman had completed e-boarding procedures for both her father and herself because her father does not own a mobile phone.
However, she was told that only one e-boarding pass is allowed on each mobile device. Due to this restriction, her father was not allowed to enter the security check area and board the flight.
The Malaysia Airlines (MAB) counter was closed at the time, so she could not print a physical copy of her father's boarding pass.

"The guard at the counter told the woman that MAB does not allow the sharing of two e-boarding passes on the same mobile device," Wee shared.
The woman told Wee that this problem only happens at Senai Airport, and never at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which led Wee to ask why the standard operating procedure (SOP) was different for the two airports.
He added that fortunately, a MAB duty officer intervened and the woman's father was eventually allowed to board the flight.
Wee questioned why only ONE boarding pass was allowed on each mobile device
"What about the elderly who are illiterates or do not have a mobile phone? Why does AirAsia allow two e-boarding passes in one mobile phone?" Wee asked.
He said he decided to share this encounter so that it may "serve as a lesson for all passengers".
Wee also advised the MAB management to revise the SOP and discuss the matter with Senai Airport management and auxiliary police to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
