The deplorable act was committed by the minister's aide while he was present at the optical shop with the deputy minister who was there for an eye inspection at 11am on Saturday, 8 September

The woman, who is said to be in her 30s, lodged a police report at the Sentul district police station the same day after CCTV captured the aide making an upskirt film.

In her police complaint, the woman stated that the minister came to her optical store together with his aide. She then brought the minister into the treatment room and the aide followed them inside. While she was checking the deputy minister's eyes, his aide took out his handphone and started filming the woman from behind.

The woman stated in her report that she felt something amiss about the man’s behaviour. The minister's aide, she said, was hovering behind her.

"The man (the aide) was behaving suspiciously and I felt uncomfortable with his actions," she said, adding that as she turned to look at a screen next to her, she noticed that the man was holding a mobile phone and was recording a video.

"Later, after reviewing the CCTV footage, I saw that the man had placed his phone under my skirt and recorded a video," she said in her police report.

The CCTV footage of the aide's action has gone viral after it was uploaded on social media. Following which, Azis, a first-term Deputy Home Minister, has fired the aide with immediate effect.

The Deputy Home Minister, in a statement posted late last night on his Facebook page, said that he viewed the matter seriously and would not tolerate such behaviour.

"I cannot tolerate such behaviour. I am so shocked to see that video," Azis said, adding that he sacked the officer as the latter's action reflects on him.

Azis explained that it would tarnish his image and credibility as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and the Office of the Deputy Minister.

The Deputy Home Minister also apologised for the incident.

"I would like to humbly apologise for the officer’s action, and it has no connection to the other officers in the deputy minister's office who are working with me," he said.

According to the Azis, he had gone to the optician accompanied by his wife, a bodyguard and the aide. It was on his request, Azis said, that his aide followed him.

"I brought my aide just in case because I did not want to be alone with another woman. I wanted my aide to be a witness, that is all," added the deputy minister.
