Video Shows Motorcyclist Distracting A Couple Before Snatching Gold Chain In Setia Alam

A man lost his gold chain after a snatch thief distracted him by pretending to have hit his car outside a convenience store in Setia Alam
The incident, which was caught on dashcam footage and has since gone viral, took place at around 2.08pm on Thursday, 10 April, in front of a 99 Speedmart outlet, reported the New Straits Times.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the victim had just finished shopping with his wife when a man on a red Yamaha 135 LC motorcycle approached them, claiming he had crashed into the front of their car.
"As the victim was inspecting his vehicle, the suspect suddenly snatched the chain, worth RM11,000, from behind and sped off on his motorcycle," he said in a statement today, 11 April.
Police have classified the case as robbery
No one was injured in the incident. Efforts to identify and track down the suspect are ongoing.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact investigating officer Inspector Muhammad Naqiuddin Nawawi at 012-384 8103 or reach out to the Shah Alam police headquarters at 03-5520 2222.
The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years, along with possible whipping or a fine upon conviction.
The dashcam footage, showing the moment the suspect carried out the snatch and fled, has been widely circulated on Facebook. The video, posted by user NiAn Cii, had racked up over 400,000 views.
