A video showing three police officers and a motorcyclist saving a stranded monkey on a highway has prompted many Malaysians online to celebrate the amity between citizens and law enforcers

The one-minute-and-56-second video was uploaded by Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS on Monday, 20 July.

In it, three Bukit Aman traffic policemen can be seen standing in the middle of the Silk Highway, trying to control the traffic to avoid any vehicles from running over the monkey.

The monkey, who seems to be in distress, reacts in fear and lets out a shriek when one of the officers tries to carry it.

"It will bite," an officer is heard saying.

The situation leaves the officers scratching their heads, but very quickly, a motorcyclist who is passing by comes to the rescue

Once the police officers notice that the motorcyclist is wearing a riding jacket and gloves, they decide to assist the man in bringing the monkey to cross the road.

A police officer is seen cordoning off four lanes on the highway as the motorcyclist carries the monkey into the jungle on the other side.

Traffic can be seen building up behind the policemen, but once the monkey is safe, the motorcyclist and the policemen quickly disperse from the scene.

The incident reportedly took place at 12pm on the same day the video was uploaded

According to Malay Mail, the police officer who cordoned off the lanes has been identified as Bukit Aman traffic policeman Corporal Azizi Adnan.

Azizi explained that he could not carry the monkey himself as the monkey could be aggressive and try to scratch him.

"But luckily at that point, a motorcyclist stopped to see what happened and offered to carry the monkey to the other side of the road as he was wearing gloves," said the 46-year-old officer.

"So I escorted the motorcyclist who was carrying the monkey until he had placed the monkey on the other side of the road where there were more trees."

At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 6,000 likes and 560 shares.

Hundreds of netizens flocked to the comment section to hail the policemen and the motorcyclist as heroes
