[VIDEO] Najib Seen Attending Pak Lah's Funeral
The jailed former prime minister received temporary release from the court to pay his last respects to the late Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who passed away yesterday, 14 April.
Jailed former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was granted a temporary release by the High Court today, 15 April, to attend the funeral rites of Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at Masjid Negara
Najib, 72, was allowed to leave court proceedings during his ongoing 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) trial before Justice Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, reported the New Straits Times.
His lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, informed the court that Najib had submitted a request to the Prisons Department earlier today to pay his last respects to his predecessor.
"The prison authorities are in the process of arranging Najib's transfer to Masjid Negara, so we are requesting the morning session to be adjourned. We ask that he be allowed to leave at 10.15am," Shafee told the court.
Justice Sequerah agreed to the request and adjourned the proceedings at 9.50am.
