Since the start of this pandemic, people have found some interesting mask alternatives.

The most recent? A live snake.

A man was spotted boarding a bus in the UK wearing a real snake around his neck.

A video of the incident, which took place on Monday, 14 September, went viral.

Instead of a face mask, the snake is seen covering the man's mouth

According to BBC News, a passenger initially thought that the man was wearing a 'funky mask' until she noticed the reptile slither over the bus' handrails.

Although she found the whole incident 'really funny', other passengers apparently did not even bat an eyelid.

In England, everyone is required to wear face masks, especially when taking public transport. Authorities said, however, that wearing a snake is not one of the options.

"Government guidance clearly states that this needn't be a surgical mask and that passengers can make their own or wear something suitable, such as a scarf or bandana,” a Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson said in a statement, according to BBC News.

"While there is a small degree of interpretation that can be applied to this, we do not believe it extends to the use of snakeskin – especially when still attached to the snake," the statement added.
