A disturbing video of a man hurling Molotov cocktails at a home and its pet dog in Puchong, Selangor, has prompted calls for a police investigation

The footage, shared by the Malaysia Animal Association on Facebook, shows the man throwing two petrol bombs at the property.

Alarmingly, one of the firebombs was thrown directly at the dog, which could be seen barking at the attacker.

The association stated that the incident took place on Monday, 7 April

"A dog was nearly burned when a man threw Molotov cocktails in an attempt to set the house on fire," it said.

The Malaysia Animal Association is urging the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to not only investigate the act for arson and intimidation, but also to open a case under the Animal Welfare Act 2015 for causing harm and fear to the dog.

The video has since gone viral, with netizens expressing concern for the dog's wellbeing and asking whether the perpetrator has been caught.
