A video showing a father hanging his son over the edge of a cliff - allegedly get a perfect holiday photo - is going viral on social media

According to Shanghaiist, the incident took place at Hongjing Road in Beijing's suburban Fangshan district, China.

In a 17-second long video, the father can be seen holding his son's hands while the boy clings on dearly to his life with his legs pressing against the concrete cliff.

At one point, the father even shakes his son's hands playfully, while others laugh.

"Look, look! The kid's hands are shaking!" a man behind the camera said.

Other tourists who appear in the background seem to be unfazed by the father's dangerous act. Cyclists and passers-by alike are seen casually chatting on the road.

The location is a scenic spot with a 19km winding road stretching from hill to hill and covered with greenery

While local media did not specify how high the boy was hanging from, the winding road reportedly curves around the hill seven times and reaches a height of 905m above sea level, reported Daily Mail.

A fall from any height of the mountain could be highly fatal.

It was also not reported if local authorities have taken any action against the father. However, NextShark reported that the now-viral video has prompted authorities to step up their security in the area to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

The video is said to have been filmed in a local scenic spot in Beijing, Hongjing Road.
