A Disappointed Veveonah Says She Forgives Those Who Made Mistakes

At around 9.48pm last night, 3 September, the 18-year-old took to her Facebook profile to say that she feels sad and disappointed over the remarks made by the Deputy Minister in Dewan Negara against her.

"Honestly, I felt really sad and disappointed with this," Veveonah wrote.

Veveonah was addressing Zahidi Zainul, who questioned her claim that she had to climb a tree and stay on top of it for 24 hours to get a better Internet connection for her online examinations in June.

According to the Deputy Minister, who was speaking in the Dewan Negara, the Sabahan student lied about having to sit for online examinations because "she didn't have an exam".

Zahidi Zainul said that the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) student is a YouTuber and wanted to be popular so she made the viral video for entertainment even though she didn't have exams at that time.

"The girl is a YouTuber. She didn't have an exam, we already checked. Which means she is smart. Therefore, we should not so easily believe YouTubers and people who like to incite issues," he said.

According to Veveonah, she never expected to go viral when she documented her experience about her struggle for a better Internet connection on top of a tree and uploaded a video to her YouTube channel.

"This time, I'm viral again, but with some bad effects," she wrote on her social media account.

Following the Zahidi Zainul's statement in the Dewan Negara on Thursday, the 18-year-old student's name was trending on Twitter with over 32,000 tweets at the time of writing this SAYS story.

Veveonah said that she doesn't "know how to deal" with negative and bad comments on social media.

In her statement, Veveonah said while she needs to make a fair statement about herself, she forgives all the mistakes people made against her.

Addressing her family, friends, lecturers, and fans, she thanked them for still rooting and supporting her.
