UMNO Info Chief Tests Positive For COVID-19 After Campaigning In Sabah Election

Shahril Hamdan announced his test result through social media today, 23 September. He is the second UMNO politician to be infected with COVID-19 in Sabah after supreme council member Mohd Razlan Rafii.

UMNO Information chief and Youth deputy chief Shahril Hamdan has tested positive for COVID-19 after campaigning in the Sabah elections

Shahril said that while he did not have any symptoms associated with the virus, except for feeling a bit tired, he took the test as a precautionary move, according to a statement he shared publicly.

"Covid+. No obvious symptoms melainkan penat sikit. Decided to test yesterday in KL for prudence after case spikes as I had been campaigning in Sabah. Just received call & will be taken in today. Am sorry for the inconvenience this will cause people who came into contact," the UMNO Youth deputy chief tweeted.

According to a report in Malaysiakini, Razlan was confirmed positive on his second test.

"He is now being quarantined at Kota Kinabalu Hospital. Everything else is proceeding as usual," UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was quoted as saying.
