UMMC Is Asking For Donations To Fund PPE For Their Frontliners Through Lazada
The university hospital is seeking donations ranging from RM50 to RM500.

Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) has recently started a fundraiser for personal protective equipment (PPE) on Lazada
On 22 January, the government-funded hospital shared on its Facebook page that it has joined the 'LazadaForGood' programme to rally public support against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through the online drive, UMMC is seeking donations ranging from RM50 to RM500 to purchase PPE for their hospital frontliners.
UMMC is the only hospital among several non-governmental organisations (NGO) on the e-commerce app's donation drive
It is not stated on any of UMMC's social media pages why the university hospital is crowdsourcing funds for the pandemic essentials.
The other participants of Lazada's programme include the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, UNICEF, MERCY Malaysia, Hospis Malaysia, and Zoo Negara.
Through the programme, Lazada pledges to contribute an additional RM1 for every RM4 donated to the list of organisations participating.
On Twitter, people have expressed concern over why the public hospital has reached out to ask for donations
"This is a good effort, but I'm still wondering, has the Ministry of Health's (MOH) budget been used up or something?" questioned a netizen.
Another Twitter user asked, "Please clarify why do you need the donations? Why is there a deficiency in funds? Even Zoo Negara has explained why they need the public donations. What is your fund raising (sic) goal amount?"
Meanwhile, many netizens have made contributions to help.
