With cooperation from the e-hailing company, the police were able to locate the victim's last two passengers.

A 20-year-old local and 24-year-old foreigner have since been arrested.

The suspects were arrested at 9.50pm on 27 May at the parking lot of 1Borneo Shopping Centre.

"They admitted to the killing of their driver and said they dumped the body in the Tuaran area," Sabah police commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah said at a press conference today, 28 May

"Efforts are underway to identify the body which has started to decompose," he added.

The victim's identity will be determined through fingerprint analysis since Hanafiee's family could not identify the swollen body.

While investigations are still ongoing, the suspects have confessed that their motive was robbery

The two suspects were tested for substance abuse.

"We are still investigating. Any information given now could jeopardise our investigations. But we will notify the press of any progress," Omar said.

The police will be applying for a remand today to continue investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, New Straits Times reported.
