Police arrested two men with pink tags while they were filling up financial aid application forms at the Kangar Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) office in Kuala Perlis, Perlis

According to Harian Metro, the duo were writing down their details on the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) application forms at about 11.30am on Tuesday, 11 August, before being apprehended.

Kangar District police chief Supt Wari Kiew said the men, age 47 and 60, are farmers from Kuala Sanglang - an area that is currently placed under the Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (TEMCO).

It is learned that members of the public alerted the authorities after spotting the duo with the pink tags

Photos online showed that the men were stopped by a Royal Malaysia Officer (PDRM) officer while a Malaysian Army (ATM) officer followed close behind.

Firefighters were also spotted at the LHDN office, who were believed to have carried out disinfection work.

LHDN had on Tuesday taken to Facebook to announce that their office in Kangar has been temporarily shut down until further notice.

Wari said the duo escaped the TEMCO area by using jalan tikus

"[They] managed to escape two roadblocks mounted at Simpang Empat and Kuala Perlis by using rat routes," Bernama quoted him as saying.

Wari said the duo had been compounded RM1,000 each.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 270 of the Penal Code as well as Section 14 and Section 15 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

If convicted, they will face imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both.
