PETALING JAYA: The bodies of three men, all believed to be drug addicts, were fished out of a lake near the Batu Caves roundabout Sunday evening.

The Three Men Could Have Been Drug Addicts Who Escaped A Drug Raid The Night Before

Police are investigating if the men were those who managed to escape a drug raid in the area the night before.

“We are looking into the possibility that they may have been connected to an operation targeting addicts in the area near the lake on Saturday night. They may have tried to run away. “We will question the other drug addicts we arrested to see if those three were in their group,” he said.

They Were Believed To Have Jumped Into The Lake In An Effort To Hide From The Police

The victims, both aged 38, were believed to have drowned after jumping into the lake to evade an anti-drugs operation conducted by authorities on Saturday.

Zakaria said it was yet to be ascertained if the victims drowned in an attempt to flee police raid, and they will question drug addicts arrested in the operation to find out.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Zakaria Pagan said police received a call at 5.30pm that anglers spotted two bodies floating in the lake. “A police team was despatched to the scene, before they requested assistance from the Jinjang Fire and Rescue Department to recover the bodies.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said authorities were first alerted by the public of the bodies floating in the lake near the Sri Siva Muneeswarar temple at about 5.30pm.

A Third Body Was Found At 8pm

Two bodies were recovered at 6.15pm. The third was found at 8pm.

No Injuries Were Found On The Three Victims Who Were Malaysians In Their Thirties

“Initial checks did not find any injuries on the victims’ bodies, and police believe that the incident did not involve foul play.

“However, we are waiting for further examination by the police Forensics Unit and post-mortem result to confirm,” he said, adding that the bodies will be sent to the Selayang Hospital for post-mortem.

Police Have Classified The Case As Sudden Death

Sentul OCPD ACP Zakaria Pagan said the three victims, locals and in their 30's, were fully clothed and had no sign of injury on their bodies. Police have classified the case as sudden death.
