"I have just been informed about this (Ladies' Night) by the OSTPC committee (One-Stop Teenage Pregnancy Committee) that teenagers would frequent 'ladies' night', usually held on Wednesday and Saturday, where ladies get to have (alcoholic) drinks on the house," Fatimah was quoted as saying by The Borneo Post.

Ladies' Night is an event where female customers receive alcoholic drinks for free or at a discounted price in either bars or clubs.

According to her, Ladies' Night has been spread to rural areas of Sarawak

"I'm told that this event is not confined to just Kuching, but has even spread to rural areas," Fatimah said, before expressing worry over teenagers who get notified of such events through social media.

The Borneo Post reported that Fatimah was speaking to a press conference after chairing an OSTPC meeting at a hotel in Sarawak yesterday.

The minister then urged parents to pay attention to the whereabouts and activities of their teenage daughters

"If there are underage teenagers involved, they are at high risk because ladies' night involves drinking, and drinking and bad decisions go hand-in-hand," Fatimah claimed.

"Also, other unwanted situations such as their teenage daughters drinking spiked drinks might also occur," she added.
