The Minimum Wage In These 57 Malaysian Cities Will Be Raised To RM1,200 Starting January

According to Bernama, the Human Resources Ministry (MOHR) released a statement stating that this was in line with the tabling of Budget 2020 and the decision of the cabinet on 6 December to implement a minimum wage of RM1,200 per month in major towns.

However, it is not applicable for domestic service, as stipulated in the Minimum Wages Order 2018.

The government's decision to increase the rate in major towns was done to assist workers in these areas to cope with the increased cost of living.

MOHR also said that the government's objective is to raise the minimum wage to RM1,500 a month within the first five years of the Pakatan Harapan administration.
