Thai Woman Caught Smuggling RM1 Million Worth Of Cocaine In Handicraft Bags At KLIA
The drugs weighed a total of 5.22kg.

A Thai woman was arrested by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department for attempting to smuggle 5.22kg of cocaine into Malaysia
According to Bernama, Central Zone Customs Department assistant director-general Dr Ahmad Taufik Sulaiman said the 30-year-old woman was detained at about 7pm on 18 March at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
She was stopped at the International Arrival Hall of Terminal 1 after arriving on a flight from East Africa.
"The woman was detained for inspection after a scan of her luggage detected suspicious objects and images believed to be dangerous drugs," said Ahmad Taufik.
Upon inspection, customs officers discovered several handcrafted bags in her luggage
A thorough search of the bags revealed secret compartments, where the officers found 16 transparent plastic packets containing 5.22kg of white powder, estimated to be worth RM1.05 million in cocaine.
Ahmad Taufik said initial investigations suggest the drugs were intended for distribution in the country.
He added that the the suspect has since been charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
