"Steady, YB!": Malaysians Praise Anthony Loke After He Declined 2 Smartphones In Gift
The PH Minister had returned them saying, "I can't accept this, it is more than RM500."

Earlier this week, Anthony Loke was seen refusing to accept the gift of two smartphones that he was being presented as a token of appreciation by an event organiser at the of a new e-hailing service
According to a report in The Star Online, the Minister of Transport in the Pakatan Harapan Government was offered two smartphones, Huawei P20 and Huawei Nova 3i.
The Democratic Action Party (DAP) politician, however, declined to accept the gift, saying, "I'm sorry, but I'm unable to accept as I am sure they cost more than RM500."
The smartphones are actually worth almost RM4,000, reported the English daily.
He also reminded the event organisers of the PH government's policy on gifts for public servants and how he must abide by it
"We don't need any gifts or tokens of appreciation. We walk the talk.
"I had to reject the gift presented to me because it is worth more than RM500. As the new government, we don't need to be presented with any gifts or tokens. We hope that organisers carrying out events understand this rule," Anthony later said.
In June, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had announced that the PH government will be enforcing a no-gift policy throughout the civil service.
The only gift a civil servant is allowed to accept are flowers, fruits, and food.
