Singapore's Tallest Merlion Statue To Be Demolished To Make Way For Sentosa-Brani Linkway

The tallest Merlion statue in Singapore is getting ready to be demolished to make way for SGD90 million Sentosa-Brani linkway
The Sentosa Merlion's last day of operations will be on 20 October 2019.
While no specific date has yet been assigned for the demolition, it is expected that the demolition will begin by year-end, when construction on the SGD90 million Sentosa Sensoryscape project will commence, which is set to be completed in 2022.
The 37-metre tall Merlion was constructed in 1995 for SGD8 million. However, it will now make way for a themed linkway between the north and south shores of Sentosa, as part of plans to give the resort island and its adjacent Pulau Brani a facelift.

The Sentosa Merlion is the largest and tallest in Singapore.
It is also the only one where visitors are allowed to interact and explore.
According to an article in Business Insider, the statue's mouth or the head has two viewing galleries and offers views as far away as Indonesia on a clear day.
The majestic statue shoots laser beams from its eyes.
One Faber Group, which operates the Sentosa Merlion, will be hosting a special edition of its light and sound show till 20 October
As part of its farewell, Sentosa Merlion will host a special edition of the Sentosa Merlion Magic Lights show four times nightly: 7.45pm, 8.20pm, 8.55pm, and 9.30pm.
While the usual price for an adult ticket is SGD15 and SGD12.50 for a child ticket, the Group is offering tickets at half-price to residents and permanent residents from 21 September till the last day of the operations, 20 October.
However, those aged 60 and above can enter the attraction for free.
Visitors will need to book tickets via the official website.
