Woman Clarifies That Her Name Really Is 'Baby Girl' After Almost Being Told Off At A Talk
"They think it's a 'glamour name', but it's my real name that's written on my identification card," said Baby Girl.

A seminar organiser was left speechless upon learning that a participant's real name is Baby Girl, after having almost told her off for using a nickname
The mistake was shared on Facebook by the organiser herself, Nina Othman, the founder of social enterprise Borneo Cocoa.
Apologetic about the incident, Nina wrote that she was holding a leadership seminar for fellow entrepreneurs, and advised them to use their real names on social media to showcase a professional image.
"I instructed them to avoid using nicknames or usernames such as 'Sweet Girl', 'Pinky Comel', 'CuteBear33', or other names similar to it, and everyone agreed," she said.
However, during the ice-breaking session, she realised there was a participant who listed her name as 'Baby' and questioned the woman.
"She then told me that Baby Girl Ariffin was indeed her name. I feel so guilty (for questioning her)!" she wrote.
After the post went viral, Baby Girl shared that this was not the first time people have been surprised by her name
"Many people I meet do not believe it at first. They think it's a 'glamour name', but it's my real name that's written on my identification card," she told Harian Metro.
The 37-year-old from Tuaran, Sabah said her name was not given by her parents, but by her aunt.
"I once asked my aunt why she gave me that name. She answered that she did not know what to name me at the time... so she just chose the name Baby Girl.
"I have five siblings, and I am the third child, but only my name is different from the others," she added.
According to Baby Girl, however, she has never been bullied for having such a unique name, especially after she explains herself
"I've never been teased, people who have just met me will only be surprised and just ask again to be sure," she said.
She added that she is comfortable with her name and has never thought of changing it at the National Registration Department.
"I'm okay because Baby Girl is an endearing name, and does not mean anything bad. My husband doesn't have a problem with it, and he calls me Baby," she said.
She added that her nieces and nephews, or anyone younger than her, calls her 'Aunty Baby' or 'Kakak Baby'.
