A man was arrested for running over another driver in a road rage incident along Persiaran Kayangan near the Section 10 bus stop in Shah Alam, Selangor on Sunday, 6 October

According to a statement today, district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim received a report from a 49-year-old naval trainer who claimed he was knocked down by a road bully at 9.45pm.

The police said the incident allegedly started when the suspect, driving a Toyota Vios, became angry at the victim for blocking his car at the Section 10 roundabout.

In retaliation, the suspect attempted to force the victim, who was driving a Volkswagen with his wife and daughter, off the road and abruptly stopped in front of their vehicle.

"The suspect then exited his vehicle and approached the victim's car, knocking on the driver's window. When the victim opened the door, the suspect attempted to grab his keys but failed, leading to a heated argument," stated Mohd Iqbal.

The suspect then returned to his vehicle and tried to ram into the victim twice

The victim dodged the first attempt but was struck on the second, causing his leg to be run over before the suspect fled.

The victim later sought treatment at Shah Alam Hospital for a minor fracture.

The incident was caught on video by a passerby and uploaded to social media.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the 26-year-old suspect and seized his vehicle during a raid in Meru, Klang on Wednesday, 9 October

"The suspect has no prior record; however, a urine test came back positive for benzodiazepines," said the police chief.

Mohd Iqbal added that the suspect will be remanded for investigation under Sections 307 and 279 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and reckless driving.

He also urged motorists to exercise patience to prevent similar occurrences.
