Tuhan Harun cult followers planned to assassinate more authority figures, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.

However, he refused to reveal who those figures were.

The man calls himself “Tuhan 2013” and leads a sect called Tuhan Harun (Harun the god) and has been arrested by the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) for deviant activities, and also on cheating charges.

The Tuhan Harun cult has been active for more than a year in Pahang.

The deviant group reportedly amassed wealth through bogus business deals and is believed to have assets valued at RM200mil as of 2008.

Among the fake businesses were investment offers in supposed real estate projects, imports and export of goods from and to China and sale of mobile phones from Brunei.

Among those who claim to have been cheated by Harun include singer Rahmat from the band “Mega”. Rahmat also alleged Harun had failed to pay various artistes who were involved in Konsert Malam Seribu Karya Rock Rohani held at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam in April 2009.

Police have urged members of an alleged cult to surrender at the nearest police station to assist in murder investigations involving a Pahang Islamic Religious Department (JAIP) official.

Its leader, Harun Mat Saad, 47, who referred to himself as “Tuhan 2013”, also operated the Universal Overhead God University, which offers three levels of studies, including a “doctorate” for his 300-odd followers.

The so-called university offered entry-level courses for new followers, doctorate-level studies for mid-level followers and a “Doctor World of God” level for senior followers.

The cult leader is currently in police custody after failing to post bail for multiple charges of cheating and deviant teachings.
