Looks like payday's coming early this month!

The Accountant General's Department of Malaysia (JANM) has announced that civil servants will receive their May 2025 salary earlier than usual, in conjunction with upcoming national celebrations.

According to JANM Circular Number 5 of 2024, the salary disbursement for May has been brought forward to 22 May 2025, instead of the usual end-of-month, reported Seismik.

Why the early payout?

The early salary release is meant to help ease financial planning and preparations ahead of the Kaamatan Festival, which will be celebrated in Sabah on 30 and 31 May.

With this early notice, public servants can better plan their personal and family commitments, whether it's festive spending, loan repayments, or household essentials.

Interestingly, the same date — 22nd of the month — was also chosen for the January payout earlier this year, which was brought forward in anticipation of Chinese New Year.
