Pregnant Mother Dies While On The Way To Hospital
The husband said his wife had no pre-existing health conditions.
The hopes of a couple to welcome their second child were shattered when the expectant mother died while being transported to the hospital
According to Harian Metro, the 35-year-old housewife went into labor yesterday evening, 9 April, prompting her husband to contact an ambulance for assistance.
The woman lost consciousness and collapsed at her home in Semeling, Kedah, reported Sinar Harian.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said that police received a report regarding the incident at 5.57pm on Wednesday from the emergency department at Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim (HSAH).
They were informed that the woman and her unborn baby had died.
The victim was confirmed dead while in the ambulance
"Doctors performed a surgery to extract the baby, and the baby was also confirmed to have died in the womb.
"Checks conducted through interviews with the victim's husband also revealed that the woman had no prior history of health problems," said Wan Azharuddin.
Wan Azharuddin added that a preliminary examination of the deceased's body found no signs of criminal activity or foul play.
He stated that the victim's body was sent to the forensic department of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death today, 10 April.
"The case is classified as sudden death," he concluded.
