Prime Minister-Designate Muhyiddin Yassin has asked Malaysians to accept the decision made by Istana Negara earlier today

"I only ask that the people accept the news which was announced by the palace today," the Bersatu president was said while speaking to the media at his residence in Bukit Damansara Saturday evening.

The 72-year-old politician also said that he would like to express his gratitude to the Yang Di-Pertuan (YDPA), Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and thank those who gave him moral support.

And I have been continuously grateful over the gift Allah has given me.

Muhyiddin's appointment for the post of Malaysia's eighth Prime Minister comes amidst the political crisis that had left the country without a government after the ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition collapsed.

Muhyiddin, who is Pagoh Member of Parliament (MP), only spoke to the media briefly, during which he conveyed his thanks to everyone

"I am grateful to Allah for the opportunity to become the eighth Prime Minister and for the decree by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong," he said, as reported by New Straits Times.

He is scheduled to be sworn-in on Sunday morning:

The country's political crisis was caused by #LangkahSheraton.

Since then, there were several names floating for the post of the Prime Minister, one of which was Dr Mahathir Momahad.
