Anwar Will Be PM If New Opposition Alliance Pakatan Harapan Wins General Elections
PKR, DAP and Amanah makes up new opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan, minus PAS.

People's Justice Party (PKR), Democratic Action Party (DAP), and newly-formed Parti Amanah Rakyat announced today, 22 September, that the three opposition parties have banded together to form Pakatan Harapan to replace the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat
This was announced by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at a press conference today after a roundtable discussion among the three parties.

“This is for the people. Parties who attend the roundtable session agreed to form an opposition coalition called Pakatan Harapan," said Dr. Wan Azizah.

"From today, Pakatan Harapan will function as a political pact that will defend the people in facing UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN),” she said during a press conference in Subang Jaya.

The coalition also announced that the currently incarcerated Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be named Prime Minister in the event that Pakatan Harapan wins the next General Elections
"We are confident that Anwar is among the most suitable leaders to tackle the economic crisis, government's abuse of powers as well as in ensuring the rakyat's welfare and unity among the races," Wan Azizah told a press conference today.

During the press conference, Dr. Wan Azizah also said that any political party who are interested in joining them are welcome to do so
The Pan-Islamic Malaysian Party (PAS), formerly of Pakatan Rakyat, declined to attend the roundtable discussion nor are they keen to join the coalition. However, the party maintains that it is still "united with the Opposition on issues involving the rakyat".
The PAS news organ Harakah Daily reported the party’s deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man as saying that there is no co-operation between PAS and the DAP, or with Amanah. However, as stressed in the PAS muktamar, PKR is still the party’s political friend in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.
“PAS is still united with the Opposition on issues involving the rakyat. We also oppose the abuse of power, corruption, and misuse of public funds, especially the 1MDB issue of the UMNO-Barisan Government,” he added.
