In an incident that happened over the week, two men on a motorcycle allegedly snatched an elderly woman's gold chain in Kluang, Johor

According to the victim, the necklace, which she had since her wedding day, is worth RM11,000.

The alleged incident happened at about 9.15am on Thursday morning, 22 October, when the victim, B Nagamah, had left her house to throw out the trash and was talking to her neighbour.

"After throwing the garbage, I went to a neighbour's house located about 100 meters from my house. On the way back, suddenly a motorcycle stopped and the pillion rider got down and snatched off my necklace and pushed me away," she was quoted as saying by Harian Metro yesterday, 23 October.

Nagamah said that she had noticed the two men on the motorcycle hovering around the area prior to the incident when she left her house but added that she did not think much of it at the time.

The alleged snatch thieves have not yet been identified as both the men were wearing helmets, as seen in viral photos circulating online

In the photos, one of the men was also seen wearing a face mask, presumably to adhere to the COVID-19 safety guidelines that urge people to cover up before stepping out in the public.

Meanwhile, the incident has left the victim traumatised

"The incident happened too fast and I could not see the faces of the criminals because they were wearing helmets," Nagamah told Utusan Malaysia, adding that she has been traumatised by what happened.

The elderly woman suffered injuries to her arms and legs.

According to her 45-year-old son, he received a call from her informing about the incident.

He had already left for work prior to the incident and had to rush back from the factory where he works as a supervisor.

"Fortunately, the neighbours have closed-circuit television (CCTV) and managed to record pictures of the incident. I hope with this strong evidence, both criminals can be arrested immediately," he said.
