Photos of a police officer standing beside a young boy just to cast a shadow big enough to shield him from the blazing sun have gone viral on Facebook

In the photos, the boy can be seen standing outside the main entrance of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

The boy, wearing a face mask, is believed to be waiting for a Chinese New Year video that plays on a huge screen found above the Coach retail store.

While the preschooler is doing that, a towering police officer comes and stands beside him, offering not only security but also temporary shade.

"This Malay abang policeman [was] using his body to shield a Chinese boy from the sun when the boy [was] standing in front of Pavilion to see the 'Golden Bull' screen," read a post with the photos

"No matter what our race is, We are MALAYSIANS after all and humanity is always among us!"

At the time of writing, the post — published in the 'Bro, Don't Like That La, bro Fan Page' group last Friday, 5 March — has gone viral with 12,000 likes and 3,900 shares.

Hundreds of netizens said the photos have melted their hearts

"So cute. Salute abam police," commented a Facebook user.

"The abang police likes the boy. Cute." said a person.

"The [boy's] parent said the kid [wanted] to sunbathe, why did the abang kacau with shadow haha," a netizen added in jest.
