Drunk Penang Driver Killed A Woman And Injured Her Husband After Crashing Into Their Stall

A 31-year-old drunk man, driving a Proton Saga Iswara, killed a woman and injured her husband after crashing into their kuih stall
The man was driving under the influence of alcohol and illicit drugs, the New Straits Times reported today, 16 June.
He was heading towards Paya Keladi when he lost control of his car before it crashed into a roadside kuih stall along Jalan Raya, Bertam Indah in Kepala Batas.
In the accident, a 40-year-old woman, Roslinda Mohamad Isa, was killed and her 44-year-old husband, Mat Subri Saad, sustained serious injuries.
Seberang Perai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the accident happened at 10am
Due to the impact, the couple were flung about 10 metre away from the stall onto the road.
While Roslinda died as she was receiving treatment at the Kepala Batas Hospital at about noon, her husband is being treated at the same hospital.
He has suffered severe injuries to his head and hands, the ACP told Bernama.
The driver was unhurt in the accident
According to ACP Noorzainy, early tests revealed the 31-year-old was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, saying that he tested positive for marijuana.
"Traffic was smooth and the weather was good during the time of the accident.
"We have detained the driver. He will be remanded to assist in the investigation of the case," ACP Noorzainy said, as reported by the New Straits Times.
